TOURISM AND RECREATIONAL PLANNING

The book “Tourism and Recreational Planning” emanated from a long search for a suitable textbook for the teaching of the subject at the nation’s tertiary institutions of learning. The experience in the teaching and research on the subject in Nigeria over the years has revealed a yawning gap in the quest to meet the needs of both the students and the lecturers.

Many of the textbooks on the tourism and recreation in the country today are written by foreigners with the types of illustrations used in such books having little or no relevance to the Nigerian situation. Unfortunately, the few ones produced locally are so skeletal in their contents, thereby necessitating the need for more comprehensive text of this nature.

This book was designed to meet the specific needs of the students in disciplines such as Urban and Regional Planning, Architecture, Hospitality, Management e.t.c., whose curricula were taken into consideration in the planning of the book.
